Di solito la si traduce con \u201cmeraviglia\u201d o \u201cstupore\u201d. Ma nell\u2019area semantica di questa densa parola c\u2019\u00e8 il significato di \u201cterrore\u201d. Ed \u00e8 questo il suo senso profondo. Chi prova<i> thaum<\/i>a \u2013 mostra appunto Aristotele \u2013 \u00abriconosce di non sapere\u00bb <i>[Metafisic<\/i>a, 982b, 15-20]. Ma perch\u00e9 terrore e sapere s\u2018implicano? \u00c8 l\u2019imprevedibilit\u00e0 in cui il divenire consiste la radice del terrore.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abStupore come meccanismo di conoscenza\u00bb \u2013 ci ha detto Gianluca Peluffo \u2013 \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che i 5+1AA mirano a creare con le loro architetture. Ed \u00e8 in questa chiave che \u00abaffrontano il tema della contemporaneit\u00e0\u00bb. Una \u00abmessa in forma della realt\u00e0\u00bb nella sua concreta consistenza materica. Si muovono perci\u00f2, i 5+1AA, in direzione contraria ad altre declinazioni del tema, miranti a esprimere lo spirito del nostro tempo attraverso una simbolica smaterializzazione dell\u2019architettura.<\/p>\n<p>Questa divaricazione \u00e8 uno dei modi in cui si manifesta l\u2019esito della speculazione filosofica inaugurata dai greci. Il greco ha evocato il senso estremo del terrore: l\u2019uscire e il ritornare nel niente di tutte le cose dell\u2019esperienza sensibile. (Si noti che il niente come origine e destinazione \u00e8 assoluta inconoscibilit\u00e0). E insieme hanno concepito il rimedio altrettanto estremo: l\u2019Essere eterno che del divenire si vorrebbe fosse origine e regolazione. Proprio perch\u00e9 immutabile \u00e8 questa l\u2019unica dimensione della realt\u00e0 su cui si possa fondare una scienza incontrovertibil<i>e (epist<\/i>eme), ossia \u201cfilosofia\u201d: certa liberazione dal terrore, sicura donazione di felicit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>La speculazione filosofica degli ultimi due secoli ha messo definitivamente in luce l\u2019incoerenza tra l\u2019indubitabile mutare delle cose e la supposta dimensione immutabile che ne sarebbe condizione e legge. Un tale dominio metafisico, se esistesse, finirebbe per negare l\u2019esistenza del divenire, da quella stessa teoresi gi\u00e0 riconosciuto \u2013 nel modo pi\u00f9 radicale e inaudito \u2013 come assoluta evidenza.<\/p>\n<p>Ci\u00f2 che chiamiamo \u201ccontemporaneit\u00e0\u201d consiste nel progressivo coerentizzarsi di pensiero, azioni e opere al divenire come totalit\u00e0 della realt\u00e0. La volont\u00e0 di simboleggiare l\u2019immaterialit\u00e0, in architettura come in altre arti, \u00e8 la pura e semplice presa d\u2019atto, in forma di suggestione, del solo esito negativo cui giunge il pensiero contemporaneo rispetto alla tradizione filosofica, dove le cose si riducono a un \u201cniente\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Riflessioni e sperimentazioni come quelle dei 5+1AA tentano di portarsi oltre l\u2019esito negativo. Lo sguardo non si lascia catturare dell\u2019astrazione in cui consiste l\u2019uscire e il ritornare nel niente delle cose ed \u00e8 invece orientato al concreto variare delle relazioni tra di esse. L\u2019architettura dei 5+1AA \u00e8 un dar forma alla realt\u00e0 attraverso la giustapposizione di volumi, geometrie e colori, volta a volta differente. E, insieme, giustapposizione di riferimenti a opere poetiche, figurative, architettoniche, speculative di una molteplicit\u00e0 di autori e di arti. Lo stupore non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 il terrore generato dall\u2019astratto oscillare tra l\u2019Essere e il Niente, ma l\u2019infinita mutevolezza del senso delle cose determinata dall\u2019inesauribile variare del loro relazionarsi.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 cos\u00ec che Marco Casamonti, commentando la corposa carrellata di progetti esposta da Peluffo, ha potuto evocare l\u2019immagine del porto. The term is usually translated as &#8220;wonder&#8221; or &#8220;amazement.&#8221; But this semantically dense word also encompasses the meaning &#8220;terror.&#8221; And this is, indeed, its deeper meaning. Those who feel <i>thaum<\/i>a \u2014 as Aristotle demonstrates \u2014 &#8220;recognize they do not know&#8221;<i> [Metafisic<\/i>a, 982b, 15-20]. But why do terror and knowledge imply one another? The root of terror is in the unpredictability of becoming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As Gianluca Peluffo told us, &#8220;Wonder is a mechanism of knowledge.&#8221; And it is what 5+1AA strive to create with their architecture. This is their approach to the &#8220;theme of the contemporary age.&#8221; This is a &#8220;shaping of reality&#8221; in its tangible material substance. However, 5+1AA moves in the opposite direction of other explorations of the theme that seek to convey the spirit of our age through the symbolic dematerialization of architecture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This difference in direction is one way in which it expresses the outcome of the philosophical idea started by the Greeks. The Greek evokes the extreme sense of terror, leaving and returning from the nothingness of all things of sense experience. (Note that nothingness as origin and destination is absolute unknowability). The Greeks also conceived an equally extreme remedy: the eternal Being of which becoming would be the origin and rule.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Because it is immutable, this is the only dimension of reality that can be based on an incontrovertible science (episteme) or &#8220;philosophy&#8221;: certain liberation from terror, a sure gift of happiness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The philosophical speculation of the last two centuries has definitively revealed the inconsistency between the unquestionable changing of things and the supposed unchangeable dimension that would be its condition and law. If such a metaphysical domain existed, it would end up negating the existence of becoming based on the same theoretics already recognized as absolute proof in the most radical, original way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">What we call &#8220;the contemporary&#8221; is thought, actions and works made progressively cohesive in the becoming like the whole of reality. The desire to symbolize immateriality \u2014 in architecture and other arts \u2014 is the pure, simple realization in the form of a suggestion of the only negative outcome that contemporary thought reaches in relationship to philosophical tradition, in which things are reduced to a &#8220;nothingness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ideas and innovations like those of 5+1AA seek to go beyond the negative result. The gaze does not let itself be captured in the abstraction in which the leaving and return from nothingness. Instead it is oriented to the concrete variation of the relationships between these things. 5+1AA&#8217;s architecture is about giving form to reality through the juxtaposition of volumes, shapes and colors, different every time. It is also a juxtaposition of references to poetic, figurative, architecture and speculative works of a multitude of artists and arts. Wonder is no longer the terror created by the abstract oscillation between Being and Nothing. It is the infinite changeability of things determined by the inexhaustible variation of their relationships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As such, Marco Casamonti evoked the image of the port as he commented on the copious collection of projects that Peluffo presented. A port city like Genoa \u2014\u00a05+1AA&#8217;s adopted home \u2014 is a place where you can travel the world and experience a diverse wealth of connections and meanings, without having to go
